Transom Harnesses
• MPI engines will have a 16‑pin transom harness.
• Carbureted engines will only have a 4‑pin transom harness.
• MOST IMPORTANT: The sterndrive continuity ground has been incorporated into the new transom harness.
• The transom harness is secured to the back of the engine with a cable tie.
New Transom Harness Ground Connection
• The advantage of the new transom harness is to allow connection of various components (trim sender, MerCathode, some
SmartCraft sensors, and the transom ground) while the engine is not in place.
• When the engine is installed or removed, it is necessary to connect or disconnect only one connector in a more accessible
location.
