this does not happen the ring will advance with the tube without indenting it and would cause
failure of the connection.
The fitting should not be used to correct a wrong tube alignment or to be a support for the tube.
Extremely long tube or tube undergoing high stress has to be fixed by Tube Clamps (Section
E) or some type of support to avoid excessive vibration that could cause premature failure of
the fittings and or system.
CARBON STEEL FITTINGS
High quality tube must be used to assure correct performance of the Tube Fitting. Use of tube
which is not compliant with the below standard may seriously impair the efficiency of the fitting
and also voids any guarantee from the fitting manufacturer. Use the following tube only: ST
37.4 Cold Drawn Seamless to DIN 2391/C (Section E of this catalogue). Maximum permissible
hardness is 75 HRB.
All carbon steel tube with a diameter of more than 10mm must be pre-assembled with hardened
blocks or a fitting clamped in a vice. Remember to oil the thread, nut and ring. Once the ring
has been pre-formed onto the tube using the instructions on the next page, undo the nut from
the pre-assembly block or fitting then final assembly onto the desired stud body, tee, elbow etc
can be effected.
STAINLESS STEEL FITTINGS
High quality tube must be used to assure correct performance of the Tube Fitting. Use of
tube which is not compliant with the below standard may seriously impair the efficiency of the
fitting and also voids any guarantee from the fitting manufacturer. Use the following tube only:
1.4571 316SS Cold Drawn Seamless Tube to ASTM A269 (Section D). Maximum permissible
hardness is 85 HRB.
FOR METRIC STAINLESS STEEL TUBE FITTING ASSEMBLY PLEASE ASK FOR THE
STAINLESS STEEL CATALOGUE.
LUBRICATION DURING ASSEMBLY
The proper lubrication of components during assembly is essential! We advise to use mineral
oils for carbon steel fittings. An anti-seizing compound (EXMAR ANTI-SEIZE PASTE) is an
absolute must for assembly of stainless steel fittings.
