As the monster grew closer, the chances of survival were slim. The desperate men
cried, praying for a miracle.
“How pathetic am I?”
As Cassian’s comrades started mumbling prayers, Cassian remembered that the King
had assigned him the quest to bring home the Lieutenant, but Cassian was
incompetent. The Lieutenant and his men were on the verge of death.
He wiped away his tears of sorrow and firmly gripped his blade. He had made up his
mind.
“Everyone, return to your families, return to your fathers and mothers, return to
your sons and daughters. Return to our village. I will hold the line.”
Cassian fought the beast up until his dying breath allowing the Lieutenant and his
men to clear the exit and swiftly make their escape.
