Despite the tiny setback, that did not discourage her on her quest for freedom. After
what seemed like aeons, she came up with the idea to break the nearby window.
Fishing for a rock she kept in her pocket, she aimed for the window. All it would take
was one precise shot.
“Hyah!” Lilian exclaimed as she flung the rock to the window.
Glass shattered everywhere, making a mess of the place. How anyone had yet to
notice was a miracle. Realising time was lessening and lessening by the second, the
girl rushed to take the rock, and climbed through the window without any further
hesitation. Her skin was pierced with the sharp fragments of glass, and she was
overcome with a painful sensation. Everywhere stung.
“I must… keep… going,” Lilian told herself as she ran as fast as her legs could carry
her.
The gates were metres away. A feeling of triumph overcame her. No pain would be
capable of stopping her now.
Relief flooded her senses, Lilian murmured, “Finally…”
The wailing of sirens were heard shortly after, and the guards were finally informed of
what had just taken place unbeknownst to them all along.
“PRISONER DELCOUR 23 HAS ESCAPED!” A guard bellowed at the top of his
lungs, unaware that it was far too late.
