As she handed him the chocolates, he was so embarrassed to tell her he didn't like chocolates.
Emily now felt so embarrassed for not knowing what he liked.But instead of being mad, Nate
rewarded Emily with a kiss. His sweet soft lips were pressing onto hers. She couldn’t believe
that Nate was kissing her. She could feel butterflies in her stomach.The first time she had felt
this tingling sensation. As soon as their lips were pulled apart.She was speechless.Still in the
moment, Emily suddenly realized that Nate was having trouble breathing. She didn't know
what was happening so immediately brought him to the ER.

Hearing the news,Dr Stacy immediately rushed to see what was happening with Nate. He
was lacking oxygen in his lungs making it difficult to breathe.Not being able to stand seeing
Nate like this, Emily rushed out of the ER. Meanwhile Nate’s dad,Tom,arrived at the hospital
after learning the news.Dr Stacy explained to the both of them that the cancer was taking
over Nate’s lungs and that he wouldn’t be able to survive unless treated immediately.
Fortunately, Nate was already on the waiting list for new pairs of lungs and was actually
ready for the operation with parents consent. Without hesitation,Tom signed the papers.

Before the operation,Nate had one request which was to see Emily before the operation.
Although Emily was scared to see Nate due to his condition, she knew that Nate needed her
and her strength so before Nate’s operation,she went to visit him. Nate was lying on the bed,
even with an oxygen mask,he still had trouble breathing. As Emily walked into the ER,Nate’s
frown turned into a smile. She walked up to him and apologized for running off earlier. Nate
replied saying that he was just glad that she had come to see him. Nate,trying to catch his
breath said,”Before I go for my operation,I just want to say that I have had a great time with
you and that I genuinely love you.” Emily was astonished with the words he said. She was
shocked to hear the words “love you” She did not say it back but just kissed him on the lips
before he was taken away.

During the operation,Emily prayed that the operation would be a success but little did she
know that as Nate was being prepared to be put to sleep, he started coughing out blood and
in a matter of seconds,his heart stopped. The doctors did all they could to revive him but
they were too late. “Nate Salvado, time of death 13:09.” the head doctor said. Waiting
patiently, Emily sat outside of the operating room waiting to see Nate but the only person she
saw walking out was her mom with a sad look on her face.At that moment,she knew she had
lost the love of her life and all she could think about was why she couldn’t say ”I love you to”.
