CAR INSURANCE
If you are using your own car on our business you must ensure that your car insurance
provides the proper level of cover for you to satisfactorily complete your duties and that this
has been agreed with the office prior to you doing so. It is a further requirement of your
employment that you can provide the office with copies of your current MOT certificate and
car insurance showing business class insurance when required – copies will be retained in your
HR file.
As per the above we would point out that you are not automatically insured by the company
when using your own vehicle during working hours. Cover from your insurance company has
to be fully comprehensive with employer’s business cover [not third party]. This is not
optional and failure to demonstrate this may result in loss of work and or termination of
employment.
PARKING
Private vehicles parked on or around our premises are done so at the owner’s risk and we
accept no accountability for any damage caused to such vehicles. Employees’ cars must be
parked at the furthest distance available from the main entrance to allow visitors to use the
nearer spaces. Whilst out and about in the community you are responsible for any parking
charges which you incur whilst contravening parking conditions carrying out your duties. You
must ensure that no customer data or information including rotas are left in vehicles where
they can be seen or accessed.
COMPETITION AGREEMENT
It is a condition of your employment that, when your employment is terminated, for
whatever reason, you may not, for a period of 12 months after the termination of your
employment, approach any individual or organisation who has, during the period of your
employment, been a customer or employee of The Care Company, if the purpose of such an
approach is to solicit business which could otherwise have been undertaken by us. This
includes offering private services to people introduced via your employment with us as a
personal assistant, carer or domestic provider/companion. The exact terms of this
requirement are set out in your Statement of Main Terms and Conditions of Employment, the
provisions of which shall prevail in the event of any inconsistency with the contents of this
paragraph.
RIGHTS OF SEARCH
We have the contractual right to carry out searches of employees and their
property
(including vehicles) whilst they are on our premises or business. Where
practicable, searches will be carried out in the presence of a colleague of your
choice who is available on the premises at the time of the search. This will also
apply at the time that any further questioning takes place.
You may be asked to remove the contents of your pockets, bags, vehicles, etc.
Whilst you have the right to refuse to be searched, such refusal will constitute
a breach of contract, which could result in your dismissal.
We reserve the right to call in the police at any stage.
