Renaissance Lecture on ‘Environmental issues in Kerala’

The 8 Renaissance lecture was conducted
th
on the topic “Environmental Issues in Kerala”.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. K. Soman,
eminent geologist and former Research
Analysis wing Head of National Centre for
Earth Science Studies, Thiruvananthapuram.
He gave a clear picture of the environmental
issues in the coastal areas, highland and
midland separately to depict the varying
issues in those areas.

Prof. V.K. Damodaran during his presidential
address emphasised that rebuilding Kerala
after the flood of 2018 should not be
rebuilding what was earlier which was not
environmental friendly but also unscientific.
The new construct has to be a new
model based on scientific and technology
innovations to meet the human needs and
to protect environment. Vakkom Moulavi
Foundation Trust Chairman A. Suhair
delivered the welcome speech and Dr. O. G.
Sajitha expressed vote of thanks.
