Greetings to all from Florida, the Sunshine State. Yes, we have had lots of
sunshine and a few days of cooler than normal temperatures. As I write this,
however, we are back to 80s during the day. Many of our visitors to Tampa for
the Thank You ESA Day enjoyed our sunshine and warmer temperatures than those up North.
Speaking of Thank You ESA Day held on February 3 in Tampa, it was a great day of information
rd
and stories about St. Jude’s and ESA’s contributions to help the children. We also heard some
updates about Headquarters. We hosted many ESA members from around the country. We
hope they found a warm welcome in Florida.
Many interesting activities/projects have taken place and are still planned throughout the State.
An interesting one was having an 18 inch Modern Girl doll complete with a wardrobe for almost
every occasion, plus a carrying case. Tickets were sold for this which netted them a great
Philanthropic contribution.
We had prosperous Walk/Run events, Greek Festival booths, dinners, Garage sales and many
others. Our Florida ESA sisters have been helping those in need in so many ways. Our State
project is the School for The Deaf and The Blind. Many items that they have told us they need
have been provided throughout the year. Things like Backpacks on rollers for the very heavy
Braille books, craft items, and puzzles and games for their long rides to school and home on the
weekends. We have been busy.
I want to say a great big thank you to my ESA sisters around the country and in Florida for their
thoughts and prayers, cards, emails, etc during my illness and surgery. I am well on the mend
and ready to go.
