                                   Greetings, ESA! I’m
                                   sure you are all
                                   aware of the great
                                  job we did raising
funds for St. Jude in the 2016-2017 year,
$19,485.427.00! WOW! As some of you know, I’m
a little bit competitive so I hope we can break
$20 million this year! No pressure! It will take all
of us to reach that goal, not just the Dream
Homes and the Radiothons but the Bunco
parties and the paint and pours and the bake sales. All of us working together can achieve this! And we are
        off!

I’d like to share a story about a little girl named Cedar, who
is pictured here with me, my niece Renee and my great
nephew Nick. When Cedar was 6 months old she was
diagnosed with Neuroblastoma which caused her to be
paralyzed from the waist down. She was sent to St. Jude
where she was treated and today Cedar is cancer free! I
met Cedar when she was 2 when she and her family
came to talk to our Mattoon to Peoria St. Jude Run
group. The Mattoon to Peoria Run is a satellite run for the
Memphis to Peoria St. Jude Run. Omega Nu Chapter of
ESA is the co-chair of this event along with WMCI Radio.
Now when Cedar, her pregnant mom, her grandparents
and her 2 brothers came to share their St. Jude story they
were talking mostly to runners. These are runners who
weren’t really hooked on St. Jude but hooked on running.
After Candace, Cedar’s mom, told her story everyone
saw the magic of St. Jude! This year, we asked Cedar to
design out team shirt which you can see is perfect. Our
group raised $156,520.40 this year so you can see they are all hooked on St. Jude and running! Cedar, and
kids like Cedar, is why we do what we do.

So it’s a new ESA year for all of us and how do we start reaching that $20 million goal? THE WALK TO END
CHILDHOOD CANCER, YES! The Walk is September 23 . Go to our ESA website and find out where the walks
                                                               rd
are so you can join! $10.00 is all it takes to join! TEN Bucks! Get a few to sponsor you and you are good to go! I
live in central Illinois, there is a walk 2 hours away in every direction. Last year, I traveled to Normal, Illinois and
joined Team ESA with Jamie Atchison and her chapter. This year, I have a work conflict so I’m going virtual
with my chapter. This is easy. ESA is a silver sponsor so we are committed to raise $85,000.00. If each member
gives $10.00 we are good! Take a good look at the picture. Cedar, and all of the other St. Jude kids, need our
        help.

I am available to help your chapter in any way I can, just let me know. Book those events, big and small, as
we begin a new year Inspiring!
