Hospitalisation leave is granted when an officer is
warded in a hospital. The officer will also be treated as if
he is warded in a hospital. If he is certified to be ill
What is enough to be warded in hospital but is not warded
through no fault of his, by the following:
Hospitalisation (a) Medical Officer from a restructured hospital;
Leave (b) Registered medical practitioner from a private
hospital, or
(c) Specialist from a restructured hospital, private
hospital or a stand-alone specialist clinic which is
not co-located in a hospital.
No-Pay Leave Policy
An EO may be granted no pay leave (NPL) for the Do I qualify

(a) Childcare up to the child's 4th birthday; Leave
(b) Accompanying spouse overseas; and
(c) Private affairs (e.g. medical reasons).
For NPL applications that are made on or after 1 July 2017, there is no cap on NPL duration
except for NPL (childcare) which will be granted till the child reaches the age of 4. If officers
wish to continue on NPL for childcare beyond 4 years old, they can apply for NPL (private
affairs). Officers no longer need to serve Minimum Service Period (MSP) for NPL regardless of
duration of the NPL.
Continuous NPL more than 6 months and up to 2
years: Officers will be centrally deployed. They can also
