Generally, EOs on NPL are not allowed to take up any external
employment during their NPL period, as the intent is to give them full
time off from work to focus on their personal or family commitments.
An exception is made for those accompanying their spouses
overseas. Any such external employment must be short and tempo-
rary in nature with a defined end point, and is subject to approval
and the conditions stated in the government instruction manual (IM).

MOE has provisions for selected EOs on NPL the option to take up
relief teaching or flexi-adjunct teaching in schools. This is applicable
to EOs on NPL for childcare, private affairs and further studies as EOs
on NPL to accompany their spouse overseas can already seek
permission to do temporary work overseas
