Boats built 1985 and prior are likely to be equipped with MerCruiser 10‑pin helm harness with ammeter capability (refer to
Example Wiring Diagrams). This harness design is not compatible with the currently available 10‑pin harness, which is
designed for use with a voltmeter. The boat helm harness will need to be replaced in this situation.
