Some digital pocket dosimeter has alarm system
where the exposure can be preset. The audible signal
will be activated when the preset exposure has been
reached. The alarm can be set to emit audible signal in
discrete or continuous form. This feature is important
because personal can set the alarm to certain expo-
sure according the national standard or based on pre-
determined exposure especially in the situation where
sharing dose concept is implemented.

6.3.2 Film Badge

Dosimeter based on a film badge is the most com-
mon practise world wide. The accumulated exposure
is record permanently by radiographic film. The film is
placed in the casing where some zone of the film are
covered with different type of materials. The example
of film badge design is shown in Figure 6.5. The ma-
terials are used as a filter that cover the radiographic
film in both sides have different density. Metallic filters
can be lead or copper materials. These filters gives
clear contrast on the radiographic film when exposed
to the radiation.Open windows (zone O) has exposed
most to the radiation and to the film so that zone is be-
came black. Zone B is using lead as a filter material so
