The advantages of using film badge is cheap and
the usage if for long period can up to one month. Film
badge also widely used for area monitoring of γ and β
radiations in the environment. Where many film badges
are required when the monitoring area is large. The
draw back using film badge is it is not a realtime record-
ing device so that an immediate action is difficult to de-
cide in the case of incident.

6.4.1 Detection of Alpha and Beta Radia-
tion using Ionization Chamber

Depending on the voltage supply to the anode and
catode of ion chamber, its will function to detect from α,
β, γ, X-ray radiations. The dependency of supply volt-
age and the relationship with detection of radiations
is described by the graph shown in Figure 6.6. For a
