dust will be dangerous.

    Another potential source of γ and α particle is de-
pleted U-238. This material has high density suitable
for shielding γ radiation of X-rays. It is widely used for
shielding of γ radiation such as Co-60, Ir-192 and Cs-
137 source of γ-projector in non-destructive applica-
tion. One of the Widely used β particle is in the tracer
technology. Personnel working in this field should un-
derstand the consequences of this radiation with the
human cell. Ionization chamber with suitable setting
may be useful to detect and get dosage of β particle.

    Ion chamber also can be used as neutron detector
and determine the dose of neutron when the chamber
itself has some layers of boron coated on the cathode
surface area. Boron is used because β particle is cre-
ated upong interaction with neutron. The amount of
β detection is directly propotional with the amount of
neutrons.

6.4.2 Portable Survey Meter

The detectors discussed previously should be coupled
with the electronic system in order to make signal from
detector to meaning full data. One of the device con-
sists the radiation detector and associated with elec-
tronic signal condition and readout feature is a portable
