5. SYPNOPSIS OF FACULTY COURSES
The synopsis of the faculty’s courses according to the respective programs can be referred and accessed in the
faculty’s website at www.fssh.unimas.my
6. REMEDIAL COURSES, GENERAL EDUCATION SUBJECTS AND GENERIC COURSES
MODULES FOR 2021/2022
The list of the courses offered in the university is listed at page 40.
7. LIST OF UNIVERSITY ELECTIVE COURSES OFFERED FOR SESSION 2021/2022
i. University Elective Course is to enhance student experience in cross-disciplinary knowledge. Students take
these elective courses during the stated semester as in their curriculum structure. (refer to your program
curriculum structure in this guidebook)
ii. Starts from Semester 1 2021/2022, students must choose the elective university courses offered by other
faculties based on the six clusters as listed below.
iii. Students must choose three (3) elective courses in the same cluster (or limit within two clusters only).
iv. Changing cluster is not allowed after week 4 lecture. If a student changes faculty, any elective course with pass
can be considered for grade-transfer.

8. ACADEMIC ADVISORY SYSTEM
Responsibilities of Academic Advisor
Each academic staff is an academic advisor and is responsible for a group of students. The
responsibilities of the academic advisor are:
i. Advise students on academic and non-academic matters (in general).
ii. Pay attention to those who have special needs.
iii. Refer students to the appropriate academic staff (Program Coordinator, Deputy Dean
(Undergraduate, Deputy Dean (Student Affairs & Alumni, etc.) for academic matters which
are beyond the knowledge/control of the academic advisor.
iv. Encourage students to excel in their studies and lead a balanced and flexible life in the
university.
v. Provides insights for research in their career paths.
vi. Foster the spirit of love towards the faculty and university where the spirit of alumni can be
developed.
vii. Instill UNIMAS core values.
viii. Provide academic references when required by students.
ix. Inform the Program Coordinator of students who are having difficulty in their studies.
x. Refer students who have personal problems to the Counseling and Psychology Services of the
university.
xi. Refer students with medical problems to the University Health Center.
