It is difficult if not impossible to solve complicated problems without considering many
factors and the cause-and-effect relationships between those factors. Cause & effect (C&E)
diagram is a picture composed of lines and symbols designed to represent a meaningful
relationship between an effect and it cause. Based on this project, C&E diagram are use to
investigate either a ‘bad’ effect and to take action to correct the cause or a ‘good’ effect and
to learn those causes responsible. Pareto diagram is a graph that ranks data classification in
descending order from left to right. The data classifications are types of field failures.
Figure 3.3 illustrates C&E diagram with the affect on the right and causes on the left.
The effect is the quality characteristics that needs to improvement. Causes are usually
broken down into the major causes of work methods, materials, measurement, labor and
environment. Management and maintenance are also sometimes used for the major causes.
Each major cause is further subdivided into numerous minor causes. For example, under
work method, we might have training, knowledge, ability, physical characteristics, and so
forth. Attention to a few essentials will provide a more accurate and usable results.
Solutions are developed to correct the causes and improve the process. Criteria for
judging the possible solution include cost, feasibility, and resistance to change,
consequences, training, and so forth. The organization shall continually improve the
effectiveness with use the quality policy, quality objectives, audit results, analysis of data,
corrective actions and management review. They also shall take the action appropriate to
the effects of the nonconformities in order to eliminate the cause of non conformities and
prevent recurrence
Some of the defect is come from the labor. The labor must have a discipline in work,
improve the machinery to be able to produce consistent quality products and give the
responsibility to the process. Then, we must improve the working conditions for operators
first and improve layout constantly.
The ultimate quality of the plastic product created from injection molding depends on
the quality of the mold used to create it. In addition, the care taken to complete the injection
molding process accurately and thoroughly also has an impact on the quality of the product.
It is highly important for the molten resin to be at the right pressure and temperature during
the injection molding process in order to get the desired results because this helps the resin
flow better to every part of the mold.
