In this study, polyol was obtained by using some vegetable oils. Polyurethane is also produced with vegetable oil
based polyol. Physical and chemical properties of polyurethane are also determined. Commercial polyols have been
obtained economically by using oils such as sunflower, corn, canola and cotton. The steps of epoxidation, hydroxylation,
neutralization and purification were carried out in order to produce vegetable oil-based polyols. Polyurethane
materials were produced in laboratory conditions using suitable catalysts and initiators. Polyurethane; density, thermal
conductivity, porosity, thermal and mechanical properties are determined according to standards. Advantages and
disadvantages were determined by comparing with commercial products. Especially, thermal conductivity, thermal
stability, flammability, porosity and economic advantages have been observed. According to the standards, the thermal
conductivity values for polyurethane are measured between 0.020 and 0.030 W/m.K. The density of polyurethane
material was found to be between 24 and 38 kg/m .
