Classic Dolomites Tour

This itinerary is for those who like heights: it offers switchback roads, chairlift
and cable car rides – and dizzying haute cuisine. A popular skiing and hiking
area, there are exceptional hotels and restaurants in this province, which has
more Michelin stars than any other in Italy. The route crosses the most famous
passes of the Dolomites, a range of limestone mountains raised skywards 250
million years ago when Africa collided with Southern Europe. Bring hiking boots;
it’s worth getting out of the car and walking, not least for a glimpse of history.
Some trails lead along the World War I front line, where Italian and Austrian troops
