            Helm
Several Quicksilver steering helm configurations are available to suit your installation requirements: 1) single cable rotary, 2)
two cable rotary, 3) rotary rack and pinion with tilting shaft, and 4) straight rack.
NOTE: A tilting steering helm is included with hydraulic steering.
               • Ensure that the steering wheel will not interfere with other equipment.
               • Ensure that selected location will allow unrestricted movement of the steering wheel, including all tilt positions (if
applicable). ABYC standards require at least 64 mm (2‑1/2 in.) clearance between remote control lever and steering wheel
rim with any possible lever or wheel position.
               • Allow adequate space behind dash for rack and cable connections and tilt movement (if helm is so equipped).
               • For complete measurements and clearance specifications refer to the Installation Instructions provided with the helm.
            Cable Requirements
               • MerCruiser Diesel steering systems (manual and power) are designed for use with steering cables that comply with the
ABYC standards. Specifically, cables must have end dimensions shown.
                                                            NOTICE

Using incorrect steering cables can damage the transom assembly and steering system. Install steering cables with end
dimensions and locking devices that comply with ABYC standards. Power steering pump squealing in a hard right turn
                indicates a non‑compliant cable.
