Māna [late Vedic & Epic Sk. māna, fr. man, orig. meaning per- Mānavant (adj.) [fr. māna ] possessed of pride, full of conceit;
haps "high opinions" (i. e. No. 2); hence "pride" (No. 1). Def. neg. a° not proud Th 1, 1222.
