Abstract
Most successful development in manufacturing and automation industry’s production
facilities, involving sophisticated equipment requires programmable logic controller
(PLC) applications. In accordance with this matter, training facilities are becoming
costly even with short replacement cycles. Many courses involving PLC are offered
in the Automation Lab at Polytechnic of Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah
(POLIMAS). Since a large number of students are to study about PLC system, it is
hard to cater for every machine to each student during the learning/training session.
A less effective learning of PLC is caused by a lack of trainer-student ratio in the
laboratory. Other than that, reliability of existing equipment requires such
maintenance and the procurement of equipment/training facilities is very high. To
overcome these problems, the PLC Trainer Kit Simulator is proposed to be developed
and used in the Automation Lab POLIMAS.
