Abstract
The foundation is very important and has to be strong enough to support the entire
structure. The process of soil stabilisation helps to achieve the required properties in a
soil needed for the type of construction work. Egg Shell Powder (ESP) were used to
study the effect on the properties of soil. Eggshell primarily contains calcium,
magnesium carbonate and protein and the quantity of lime in eggshell is almost the
same as in limestone on ton for ton basis. The main objective of this study is to
determine the moisture content, bulk density and dry density of the soils when eggshell
powder was added which can make the overall test process economical and eco-
friendly. Additionally, this study aims to determine the optimum percentage of
eggshell powder can be used in quantities of 10%, 15% and 20% of the soil. Two
laboratory tests were carried out to test the properties of soil sample. Atterberg limit
are used to classify the type of soil that we use and the compaction standard proctor
test are to obtain the value of moisture content, bulk density and dry density of the soil
when ESP was added to the soil. This value can use for the further study of soil strength
properties.
