they call them, right? They've got no time for that. They were
this newfangled, you know, stuff. They're suspicious of the
internet, they think that people are serious about buying a
yacht. "We'll come see one," or they'll call on the phone. They
were all suspicious of these internet leads, you know? That's the
thing and they wanted to get people on the phone. If they didn't
have a phone number, that's a bad lead or if they called them
and they didn't call them back, that's a bad lead.
Dean Jackson: 00:30:34 They literally had a file, paper printouts of all of these inquiries
to the website or things from the boat shows called "Dead
Leads" and so they had a file called "Dead Leads" and this was,
this guy takes this file and he literally goes through and he starts
emailing people one at a time and said this, "Hi Dan, are you still
looking for a yacht?" He uncovers a guy who's under contract
right now for $130 million custom yacht that's going to be
delivered next year, this was a couple of years ago, that takes a
while to get these built, so it'll be delivered next year and in the
meantime, he bought a $50 million yacht to tide him over until
his $150 million yacht is available and now they're going to be
putting the $50 million yacht back on the market in preparation
for his new yacht being developed. A nine word email finds a
nine figure client from that and that's amazing. I love to hear
stories like that but it's not at all surprising. I mean, it happens
all the time.
Dean Jackson: 00:31:53 Here's another example, we had an executive recruiter and she
would constantly send out jobs to people, right? Job postings
like, all very formal looking things every single week she's
sending out jobs. Some people just no response to the people.
Then we did some brainstorming and we came up with what's
the conversation? Or what's going on in people's minds? Right?
So she sent an email, "Susan," in the subject line. "Hey Susan,
are you still available?" Now, that was all these people start
immediately responding back because the interesting thing
about the word "still" implies that you know that they were
available because of the context of how you actually came on
there and we're only speaking to the five star prospects, we're
only speaking to people who really are looking. That's who
we're trying to attract, right? We want to send the email that
the person who is looking for work still or looking for a new
position or looking for a house or looking for a yacht. We're
thinking the positive, right? We're never trying to water down
our message or make it apply to everybody, right? People read
their email alone, that's what you're gonna see here, you know?
