a penny, you know? I remember distinctly thinking to myself,
"Man, those guys had it so lucky. If I could send letters for a
penny I would be rich," right? 'Cause at the time it cost 60 cents
to send a letter, right? Or 40 cents to send a post card. I'm like,
"Those guys, they had it so lucky. That'll never happen again."
Fast forward and now not only can you send them for free, you
can actually send part of it to somebody and when they read
the first bit and are interested you can send the rest of it to
them. This is like such awesome feedback that you never even
have to, if you wanna try something, you never have to reveal
what's actually happening unless people are interested in the
concept of it.
Dean Jackson: 00:49:38 A lot of times people get afraid to commit to having an event
because they don't want the embarrassment of putting it out
there and then it not going off, right? That nobody buys the
event. They don't know for sure, they've never done it yet. They
don't know for sure whether they could pull it off and they
don't want to go through this whole public embarrassment of
announcing it and doing all this stuff and then nobody comes.
That would be an embarrassing situation, right? So a great way
to get the barometer, take the temperature, see whether
people are interested is to send out an email that describes
what you're looking to do and see if anybody conceptually is
interested in that opportunity. We've had this same thing. I use
this exact format now where we'll have people send out... at
the Breakthrough Blueprint event, we'll have them send out a
message. When I was in Australia we had a guy, Mike Monday,
who used to be a DJ and music producer and he would go and
tour the world. He had some level of notoriety or fame in that
world. Had a list of people but now he teaches people how to
make music and how to be a music producer, how to get money
for your music.
Dean Jackson: 00:51:02 "How to Make Music Your Life" is the name of his program. He
had a membership program, or not a membership program, but
an ongoing, like a class type of thing. It was a six month
program, it was $97 a month was the thing for it. He never sold
anybody anything more than that $97. We were in Sydney and
at lunch, we were talking about this idea and I had him, while
we were there, go to our contact at the hotel, book the board
room that we were in for six weeks from now for a two day
period, two day weekend. We went back upstairs and we wrote
an email following this same situation here and said, "I'm doing
a Sydney Music Mastermind" is what it was, we said, "Hey I'm
doing a music mastermind in Sydney in October," this was
August, so six weeks is in October, "And we're going to spend
