The Passenger Assistant will leave a note through your letter
box giving full details including a phone number and an address
of where they have taken your child.
All drivers and Passenger Assistants are instructed never to
leave your child with anyone else other than the child’s
parents/carers or a designated appointed person or responsible
adult. If you are not able to meet your child due to an emergency
and have arrangements for someone else to do this for you, you
must inform the People Transport Office as a matter of urgency.
Drivers and Passenger Assistants are given clear instructions to
collect/drop off children at either home addresses or
designated/approved addresses. They do not have the authority
to change the journey in any way. Should you need your child to
be taken to any other address, this must be requested in writing
along with an alternative contact number to the Special
Educational Needs Team.
SAFEGUARDING MATTERS
All children must travel in their designated seats. This includes
wheelchairs, buggies, booster seats or child seats. All
wheelchairs and buggies must be certified as crash tested prior
to being permitted on board transport. Guidance of where you
can get them checked is given later in this booklet (see page
13). Children are not permitted to travel in front of the vehicle
namely driver’s/passenger seat (unless otherwise authorised).
Safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility. Therefore,
our staff will have a duty to report any Child Protection concerns
they might have to the Transport Office who will report this to the
Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), Children and
Families Team or Disabled Children’s Team (DCT).
