The implementation of IR 4.0 was widely growth among various types of industry
including education. The nature of teaching is now changing as current lecturers are
required to equip their students with IR 4.0 skills. The IR 4.0 education demands
current lecturers to ensure their competence are in line with the fast pace of
technological advancement and to impart that skills to their students. As such, the
objective of this study is divided into three categories which is first to investigate the
awareness, the second is the perception and the third is the readiness of polytechnic
accounting lecturers on IR 4.0. A questionnaire adapted from Omar and Hasbolah
(2018) was distributed among a sample of Malaysian polytechnic’ lecturers. The
findings of the study indicated that majority of polytechnic accounting lecturers are
aware and have heard about IR 4.0. In addition, regarding perception on IR 4.0,
lecturers pose concrete opinion regarding the readiness of Malaysia to embrace IR 4.0.
However, majority of them agree that polytechnic lecturers are not ready for IR 4.0 as
they are lack of exposure on the IR 4.0. Suggestions and recommendations are also
discussed to provide for lecturers to better equip in handling the changing scene of
education in line with IR 4.0.
