2. A factory producing pesticide uses a logic system to ensure the volume of pesticide in a plastic bottle
is within an acceptable range. Diagram 2.1 shows the arrangement of the logic system fixed beside a
conveyor belt carrying bottles of pesticide. The radioactive detectors, S 1 and S 2, detect the level of
radiation passing through the bottles.
