1. หากมีภิกษุกลาววา ขาพเจาไดสดับรับมาเฉพาะพระพักตรของพระผูมีพระภาควา นี้เปนธรรม
นี้เปนวินัย นี้เปนสัตถุสาสน (A monk might say: “Face to face with the Blessed One

did I hear this; face to face with him did I receive this. This is the Doctrine, this
is the Discipline, this is the Master’s teaching.”)

2. หากมีภิกษุกลาววา ในอาวาสชื่อโนน มีสงฆอยู พรอมดวยพระเถระ พรอมดวยปาโมกข
ขาพเจาไดสดับรับมาเฉพาะหนาสงฆนั้นวา นี้เปนธรรม นี้เปนวินัย นี้เปนสัตถุสาสน (A monk

monk, together with a leader. Face to face with that Order did I hear this; ...)

3. หากมีภิกษุกลาววา ในอาวาสชื่อโนน มีภิกษุผูเปนพระเถระอยูจํ านวนมาก เปนพหูสูต ถึงอาคม

(คือชํ านาญในพุทธพจนทั้ง 5 นิกาย) ทรงธรรม ทรงวินัย ทรงมาติกา ขาพเจาไดสดับรับมาเฉพาะ
หนาพระเถระเหลานั้นวา นี้เปนธรรม นี้เปนวินัย นี้เปนสัตถุสาสน (A monk might say: “In

such and such a monastery reside a great number of elder monks, widely learned,
versed in the Collections, expert on the Doctrine, expert on the Discipline, expert

on the Summaries. In the presence of those monks did I hear this; ...)
4. หากมีภิกษุกลาววา ในอาวาสชื่อโนน มีภิกษุผูเปนพระเถระอยูรูปหนึ่ง เปนพหูสูต ถึงอาคม

ทรงธรรม ทรงวินัย ทรงมาติกา ขาพเจาไดสดับรับมาเฉพาะหนาพระเถระรูปนั้นวา นี้เปนธรรม
นี้เปนวินัย นี้เปนสัตถุสาสน (A monk might say: “In such and such a monastery

resides an elder monk of wide learning ...)

เธอทั้งหลาย ยังไมพึงชื่นชม ยังไมพึงคัดคานคํ ากลาวของผูนั้น พึงเรียนบทและพยัญชนะ
(ทั้งขอความและถอยคํ า) เหลานั้นใหดีแลว พึงสอบดูในสูตรเทียบดูในวินัย (The words of

that monk are neither to be welcomed nor scorned, the words and syllables
thereof are to be studied thoroughly, laid beside the Discourses and compared
with the Discipline.)

ก. ถาบทและพยัญชนะเหลานั้น สอบลงในสูตรก็ไมได เทียบเขาในวินัยก็ไมได พึงลงสันนิษฐาน

วา นี้มิใชดํ ารัสของพระผูมีพระภาคแนนอน ภิกษุนี้ (สงฆนั้น พระเถระเหลานั้น พระเถระรูปนั้น)
