4) Given the unique challenges in the different pilot sites, it was found that it was
possible to experiment with different patterns of deposits and withdrawals of “time” based on the
different skill sets and attributes of the “Time Bank” members. At the time of this report, there
were a total of 165 Time Bank members in six branches. When classified by age group, it was found
that 18 members were age 6-25 years, 97 were age 26-59 years, and 50 were age 60 years or over.
5) When the government finally started to ease Covid containment measures in late 2021
and 2022, the Project was able to organize more small group activities in some areas, leading to six
branches to start experimenting with “deposit, withdraw time” under “skills,” with 165 members
with a deposit time of 553 hours, and a withdrawal time of 158 hours. The most common skills that
are exchanged through the Time Bank mechanism include agriculture, maintenance, teaching, and
services (e.g., pick-up/delivery, hair dressing, housekeeping, animal feeding, providing friendship, etc.).
However, the amount of deposits and withdrawals of time during the pilot
implementation is unbalanced. That may be because, in all Project sites, there is a mutual
agreement on provision and use of time. At the beginning, in order to ensure understanding and
allow experimentation, the ‘window’ for deposits-withdrawals was scheduled at least once per
month. As a result, the number of time deposits exceeded the withdrawals. That outcome should
be expected initially. However, after proceeding to the next phase (Set Zero) the process is expected
to be fully operational as a prototype of a “Time Bank for All Age Groups in Pasi Charoen District”
based on mutual understanding and a continuous learning process.
6) The Project formed an agreement to establish a “Time Fund” and a “Time Bank Fund”
for all age groups in the pilot sites of Pasi Charoen District. The members of the Time Bank branches
also learned the process of supporting the Project, and the “Time Fund” now has 1,440 hours of
accumulated time deposits.
“Time Fund” This refers to the accumulation of time that Time Bank members donate
to the public, or through gaining surplus time by exchanging members' skills, such as teaching 2
hours of yoga to 10 members. At the end of the activity, 10 members must transfer 2 hours of their
own time in the account to the yoga teacher, netting the yoga teacher 20 hours. In reality however,
the teacher is given only 2 hours, while the balance of 18 hours is deposited into the Time Fund.
The acquisition from other methods depends on the agreement of the members and the Project
